My Autobiography
My name is Irish Mae Felipe. I am 20 years old and currently studying Information Technology major in Web and Mobile Application Development at Cauayan Isabela State University. My father’s name is Armando, and my mother’s name is Madelyn. I am the second among six siblings. I have two brothers and three sisters. We are not rich, and we live a simple life, but our family is happy even if life sometimes becomes difficult and stressful. My mother works as a government employee, while my father works as an OIC security guard. Their income is only enough for our daily needs and school expenses. Sometimes I feel sad when I see them worried about money, but I promised myself that someday I will help them and give them the things they want. When I was young, we lived in Marasat Pequeño, where my grandparents lived. I studied there during my kindergarten and Grade 1 years. Before I entered Grade 2, our family moved to Gamu, where my grandparents on my mother’s side also had a house. Since then, I have grown up there, and our family decided to stay there permanently.
Growing up, I was not interested in toys or things usually liked by girls. I preferred boys’ toys, and most of my childhood friends were boys. When I was in Grade 4, I joined the Girl Scouts. That was the first time I slept at school without my parents beside me. It was both exciting and scary because it was my first time being away from them for that long. When I reached Grade 6, I became active in joining different clubs and activities. I joined a poster-making contest and won second place. I also became part of the student journalists under news writing. Even though I was not an honor student from Grades 1 to 6, I became a consistent honor student from Grade 7 until Grade 12. In Grade 7, I became class president and SSG treasurer. In Grade 8, I became class vice president and AP Club president during the pandemic. Then in Grade 11, I became class vice president again. These experiences helped me become more responsible, confident, and hardworking. There are times when my parents argue, and it makes me sad when I see them like that, but I also understand their struggles. One of the biggest lessons I learned from my family is to be grateful for what I have, save money, and always be respectful to other people. Even though our life is simple, I learned how to be happy and content with what we have. My family taught me the importance of hard work, respect, and kindness. As a student, I also experienced many challenges. One of them is becoming more knowledgeable and learning what I should do for my future. Sometimes I also struggle financially, especially when there are many school expenses. Despite these challenges, I still do my best to continue studying and achieve my dreams. My college life has also taught me how to become more independent. I learned how to- budget my money for one week of classes and how to manage my responsibilities as a student. Being a college student is not easy, but it helps me become more mature and responsible in life. As for me, I like mangoes, adobo, and blueberry cheesecake. I love reading books, watching K-dramas, and listening to old music and songs by Taylor Swift. I also love coffee, especially Spanish latte, and I enjoy eating nuts. I love nature and peaceful places because they make me feel calm and relaxed. Sometimes I like being alone in a quiet place, but there are also times when I enjoy being surrounded by loud and happy people. These are some of the things that make me who I am today.
